I've been to Anchorage a few times when I lived in Alaska. Once in the summer when the sun didn't set until almost midnight, and there was lush greenery and wildflowers. Another time in the winter when a blanket of snow covered the city, and the sun set at 4 pm. Regardless of the season, the city of Anchorage is encircled by beautiful mountains, leaving any picture with a beautiful backdrop. There are also so many things to do; I wish I had more time to explore.

Cafés & Bookstores
Snow City Cafe - Breakfast and lunch restaurant. Locals rave about this place, and rightfully so. The atmosphere, coffee, and food are 10/10.
That Feeling Co. - Coffee and plants. Cute place to grab a coffee.
Title Wave Books - Used bookstore.
The Writer's Block - Bookstore and cafe. Cozy and quirky place to escape the cold.
Restaurants & Desserts
49th State Brewing - amazing atmosphere, beer, and food.
Moose's Tooth Pub & Pizzeria - Many people told me to go here. Pretty cool hangout and interesting pizza options. It is very busy, so expect a wait.
Rustic Goat - Industrial chic setting with American food.
Wild Scoops - Cure your sweet tooth with their silky ice cream.
Things to do
Visit Beluga Point - Right off the Seward Highway south of Anchorage. Very picturesque with a rocky beach and mountains in the distance.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - On over 200 acres of land. You will see coyotes, grizzly bears, bison, moose, and much more. A must-see if you like wildlife.
Alaska Rock Gym - If you're visiting in the winter but still want to do something active, the Alaska Rock Gym is the perfect place. The entire second story is just for bouldering.
Alaska Botanical Garden- Found this place on accident after an Uber ride gone wrong but had an amazing time.

I enjoyed exploring new activities in Anchorage, a lively city encircled by mountains. The natural beauty of the area is truly breathtaking. The highlights of my visit were the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where I got to observe native Alaskan wildlife and also learn about the important efforts being made to protect the animals and their habitats. Another unforgettable experience was Beluga Point, and no, I didn't see any beluga whales, but nonetheless, the views of the coastal mountains were so beautiful. Whether you visit in the summer or winter months, there is plenty to do in Anchorage, Alaska.
