Hidden Gems in Cocodrie, Louisiana

I spent the last week visiting my parents at their camp in Cocodrie, LA. Although I've been to Cocodrie countless times, this visit I decided to do some research and discovered things to do besides fishing (even though fishing is enjoyable too). Cocodrie is renowned for fishing, shrimping, and crabbing, so if you enjoy those activities, you'll never be bored. However, if you're interested in exploring, there are a few intriguing places nearby, including a stunning sculpture garden that will leave you amazed by the artist's skill. You'll find yourself wondering how this hidden gem exists on the bayou.

Food and Stores

Coco Marina - Dining options in Cocodrie are limited, as most locals prefer to catch their own meals. However, Coco Marina is an excellent choice for delicious food. They've recently undergone renovations, enhancing the experience even more. Additionally, there's a patio bar perfect for unwinding with a few drinks. For families, there's a kiddie pool and splash pad available downstairs.

Pizza Express offers great pizza and is located in Chauvin, approximately a fifteen-minute drive up the bayou from Cocodrie.

Cecil Lapeyrouse Grocery - ideal for grabbing snacks or simply browsing. It's a unique convenience store full of character.

Sights

Chauvin Sculpture Garden & Art - When you're in town, make sure to visit this sculpture garden. It's an exceptionally unique experience, inspired by a spiritual awakening by the artist. You'll be captivated by his story. Although I have included pictures below, they can't truly capture the essence of seeing it in person.

If you're not from Louisiana, you probably have never heard of Cocodrie, LA, a small community along the southern coast of the Louisiana. This hidden gem may be small in size, but it boasts a unique character and culture. Cocodrie offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of larger cities.
